You Are Loved!

Funeral Booklet With Flowers If you or someone you know shows signs of wanting to end their life, please reach out to one of the resources listed.

We have seen an increase in the suicide rate, 25x more significant than the general public for individuals with serious mental illness and mood disorders, such as depression or bipolar disorder. Many people suffer in silence, often putting on a fake smile to ensure no one can see their depression. Knowing these warning signs can ensure that you can provide resources to help those who want it.

Warning Signs of Suicide

  • Talking about feeling hopeless or having a lack of wanting to live.
  • Talking about being a burden to others.
  • Displaying extreme mood swings.
  • Losing interest in things or losing the ability to experience a pleasure.
  • They are withdrawing or feeling isolated.

Suppose you recognize any of those symptoms in a friend or family member. In that case, we advise getting that person in contact with one of the following resources:

Resources:

  • Southern Iowa Mental Health Center
    • Crisis Line: (641) 682-8772
  • River Hill’s Community Health Center
